Freight transport Uzhhorod: region overview
Uzhhorod is the regional center of Transcarpathia, the westernmost regional city of Ukraine, which borders directly with Slovakia and is located near the borders with Hungary and Romania. This makes Uzhgorod a key hub for transit cargo transportation to the EU through the checkpoints Chop — Zahon (Hungary), Uzhgorod — Vyshnye Nemetske (Slovakia) and others. Zakarpattia Oblast has a specific economy focused on light industry, woodworking, viticulture and tourism. Industrial enterprises produce electronics, furniture, textiles and food products. The M-06 highway (Kyiv — Chop) is the main transport artery connecting Transcarpathia with the rest of the country through the Carpathian passes. Typical cargoes: transit goods from/to the EU, wood, furniture, wine and food. CarGoPro offers carriers of Transcarpathia the opportunity to find cargo on international routes through three neighboring EU countries. The platform helps to select reverse loading for international flights, which is critical for the profitability of transportation through the Carpathians. Shippers are looking for carriers with experience in cross-border operations.
