Act of acceptance and transfer

A document confirming the transfer of cargo from one party to another. Records the condition, quantity and completeness of the cargo at the time of transfer.

Air Waybill (AWB)

Air Waybill is a transport document for air cargo transportation. Confirms the contract of carriage between the sender and the airline.

Certificate of quality

A document confirming the product's compliance with established quality and safety standards. Issued by the manufacturer or an accredited laboratory.

CMR

Convention relative au contrat de transport international de Marchandises par Route is an international consignment note for road transport between countries that are parties to the convention.

Consignment

Sea waybill and document of title for sea transportation. Confirms acceptance of cargo for transportation by sea.

e-TTN

An electronic waybill is a digital analogue of a paper waybill. Formed, signed and stored electronically through the ETSRT system.

Insurance

A document confirming cargo insurance during transportation. Defines the object of insurance, insurance amount, risks and terms of payment.

Invoice

Commercial document for international payments for delivered goods. Contains a description of the product, quantity, price, terms of delivery and details of the parties.

KEP

A qualified electronic signature is an analogue of a handwritten signature in electronic document management. Has the same legal force as a signature on paper.

Packing list

A document with a detailed description of the contents of each cargo space: name, quantity, weight, packaging dimensions.

Phytosanitary certificate

Authorization document for transportation of plant products across the border. Confirms the absence of quarantine organisms and compliance with phytosanitary requirements.

Power of attorney to receive cargo

A document entitling a third party to receive the cargo on behalf of the consignee. Contains details of the principal, authorized person and description of the cargo.

TIR

Transports Internationaux Routiers is an international system of transit cargo transportation under customs control. The TIR carnet (Carnet TIR) allows customs clearance under a simplified procedure.

TTN

The consignment note is the main document that accompanies the cargo during road transport. Confirms the fact of sending, transporting and receiving the cargo.

Veterinary certificate

Authorization document for the transportation of animal products. Confirms the safety of products and the absence of animal diseases.

Auto transport

A specialized vehicle for transporting passenger cars. Equipped with a two-level platform with adjustable decks.

Awning

The most common type of body for trucks. A soft cover (tent) allows you to load cargo from above, from the side, and from the back.

Carrying capacity

The maximum weight of the cargo that the vehicle can carry. It is measured in tons. Exceeding the carrying capacity is punishable by a fine.

Clutch

A combination of a tractor with a semi-trailer or a trailer. It is a single road train that moves as one vehicle.

Container ship

A specialized semi-trailer for the transportation of standard 20-foot and 40-foot sea containers.

Eurofur

A standard European-style semi-trailer: length 13.6 m, width 2.45 m, height 2.7 m. Internal volume — 82-90 m³, load capacity — 20-22 tons.

Grain truck

A specialized semi-trailer for the transportation of bulk cargo: grain, oil, leguminous crops. Equipped with top loading and bottom unloading.

Hydroboard

Lifting mechanism (cargo lift) installed on the rear of the vehicle. Designed for loading and unloading cargo without using a ramp.

Isotherm

A vehicle with a heat-insulated body without its own refrigeration unit. Maintains the temperature of the cargo for a limited time.

Low profile

A vehicle with a low location of the cargo platform for the transportation of oversized and heavy cargo: machinery, equipment, structures.

Manipulator

A truck equipped with a hydraulic manipulator crane for independent loading and unloading of goods.

Refrigerator

A vehicle with a refrigerating unit for the transportation of goods with a temperature regime. Supports from -25°C to +25°C.

Semi-trailer

A towed vehicle, part of the weight of which is transferred to the tractor through the fifth wheel. A standard semi-trailer is the basis of most long-distance transportation.

Tank

A specialized vehicle for transporting liquid and gaseous cargoes: fuel, chemicals, milk, edible oils.

Tractor

A truck designed for towing semi-trailers. It does not have its own cargo space - it works only when coupled with a semi-trailer.

Bulk cargo

Liquid and semi-liquid cargo transported in tanks: fuel, chemicals, food liquids, oils.

Bulk cargo

Bulk cargo transported in bulk: grain, sand, crushed stone, cement, coal and other loose materials.

Collective cargo

Several small loads from different senders combined in one flight to optimize transport loading.

Dangerous cargo

Cargo that poses a threat to human health, property safety and the environment. Classified according to 9 hazard classes according to ADR.

Design load

Large-sized and heavy equipment (turbines, transformers, industrial installations) that require individual transportation planning.

General cargo

Tare and artificial cargo in standard packaging: boxes, pallets, boxes, bags. The most common type of cargo in road transport.

Oversized cargo

Cargo whose dimensions exceed the permissible dimensions for standard road transport: width > 2.55 m, height > 4 m, length > 13.6 m.

Pallet place

Standard unit of measurement of cargo space. One pallet space corresponds to the area of ​​a standard European pallet — 800×1200 mm.

Palletization

The process of stacking cargo on pallets to facilitate loading, transportation and unloading. Standard European pallet: 800×1200 mm.

Perishable cargo

Products with a limited shelf life that require compliance with the temperature regime during transportation.

Personal cargo

Household items and personal property when moving: furniture, household appliances, personal items, clothes.

Tarno-artificial cargo

Cargo in packaging or containers: pallets, boxes, bags, barrels, crates. Each place has a specific shape and size.

Temperature mode

The temperature range that must be maintained during cargo transportation. Critical for food, medicine and chemical products.

Cargo insurance

Financial protection against loss, damage or destruction of cargo during transportation. It can be a separate policy or part of the contract of carriage.

Consignment

A form of commission trade, in which the cargo owner (consignor) transfers the goods to an intermediary (consignor) for sale from the warehouse.

Demurrage

Penalty for overtime loading or unloading of the vehicle. Usually charged after 24 hours of free downtime.

Detention

Detention of the container outside the port or terminal beyond the free usage period. Calculated for each day of downtime.

Downtime

The time during which the vehicle is idle for loading or unloading in excess of the set free limit.

Freight

Fee for cargo transportation by vehicle. Calculated based on distance, weight, volume and type of cargo.

Fuel allowance

An additional payment to the freight rate that compensates the carrier for increases in fuel prices relative to the base level.

Mutual settlement

Cashless settlement between legal entities through a bank transfer based on an invoice and a report of completed works.

Payment upon unloading

Full or partial payment of transportation after delivery of the cargo and signing of receipt documents.

Prepayment

Partial payment of transportation before the start of the flight. Usually it is 30-50% of the total cost of transportation.

Rate per km

Cost of freight transportation for 1 kilometer of the route. Depends on the type of transport, direction and seasonality.

VAT in transportation

Value added tax (20%) when providing transport services in Ukraine. It is calculated on the cost of transportation for VAT payers.

ADR

Accord européen relatif au transport international des marchandises Dangereuses par Route — European agreement on the international road transport of dangerous goods.

Carrier's license

Authorization document for the right to carry out cargo transportation. Issued by Ukrtransbezpeka for international transportation.

Claim

A formal written claim to the carrier for damages for damaged, lost or insufficient cargo.

Contract of carriage

The main document regulating the relationship between the carrier and the customer. Determines the terms, terms, cost and responsibility of the parties.

Customs clearance

The procedure for passing customs control when importing or exporting cargo across the state border. Includes declaration, payment of duty and VAT.

Dimensional limitation

The maximum permitted dimensions of the vehicle: width — 2.55 m, height — 4 m, length of the road train — 16.5 m.

DORNP permission

Permit for international transportation of goods, issued by the State Agency of Motor Roads (Ukravtodor).

Driver card

Personal electronic chip for digital tachograph. Stores data on work and rest mode of a particular driver.

ECTMT

The European Conference of Transport Ministers is an organization that issues permits for international freight transportation between member countries.

EDRPOU

The unified state register of enterprises and organizations of Ukraine is a unique 8-digit identification code of a legal entity. It is assigned during the registration of the enterprise.

Force majeure

Circumstances of force majeure (war, natural disaster, pandemic) that release the parties from responsibility for non-fulfillment of obligations under the contract.

Incoterms

International Commercial Terms — international rules of interpretation of trade terms. Determine the seller's and buyer's responsibilities regarding delivery, insurance and customs clearance.

Liability insurance of the carrier

Compulsory civil liability insurance of the carrier for the preservation of cargo during transportation.

Tachograph

Control device for recording the driver's work and rest mode, speed and distance traveled.

Weight limit

The maximum permissible weight of a vehicle with cargo for movement on highways. In Ukraine — 40 tons for a road train.

Application

An order for the transportation of cargo containing the route, characteristics of the cargo, transport requirements, price and terms of payment has been issued.

Cabotage

Transportation of goods between two points on the territory of a foreign country by a vehicle registered in another country.

Cargo consolidation

Consolidation of small loads from different senders into one flight for maximum loading of transport.

Cargo exchange

An online platform where customers post transportation requests and carriers search for cargo to load. CarGoPro is one such platform.

Counterparty

A partner in a business relationship is a customer for a carrier, or a carrier for a customer. Can be an individual or a legal entity.

Cross-docking

Logistics technology in which cargo is transshipped from one transport to another without intermediate storage in a warehouse.

Distribution

Distribution and delivery of goods from the central warehouse to the final points of sale or consumers.

Flight

Single transportation of cargo from the point of loading to the point of unloading. Includes stages: acceptance, loading, transportation, unloading, completion.

Forwarder

A transport agent who organizes cargo transportation on behalf of the customer. Selects transport, controls transportation, prepares documents.

FTL

Full Truck Load — full loading of a vehicle with one load from one sender. The cargo occupies the entire cargo space of the car.

Hub

A central logistics hub for the collection, sorting, consolidation and forwarding of cargo in various directions.

Last mile

The last mile is the final stage of delivery from the distribution center or hub to the final consumer.

LTL

Less Than Truck Load — partial loading or collective cargo. Several cargoes from different consignors are transported in one vehicle.

Multimodal transportation

Transportation of cargo involving several modes of transport (car + railway + sea + air) under one contract.

Reverse logistics

Organization of the return of goods, containers, packaging and waste from the consumer back to the manufacturer or for recycling.

Routing

Optimal planning of the transportation route, taking into account distance, time, road restrictions, weight and overall standards.

Supply chain

The complete path of a product from the producer to the final consumer, including procurement, production, storage, transportation and distribution.

Transshipment

Overloading of cargo from one vehicle to another during transportation. It is often used when changing the mode of transport (car → railway).

Warehousing

Warehousing and cargo handling between stages of transportation. Includes receiving, placing, storing, packing and shipping.

Cargo Radar
