Freight transport Khmelnytskyi: region overview
Khmelnytskyi is a regional center in the west of central Ukraine, which plays an important role in transport connections between the central and western regions of the country. Khmelnytskyi region is located at the intersection of highways and railways connecting Kyiv with Lviv and then with the European Union. The region combines developed agriculture, food industry, light industry and construction industry.
The agricultural sector of Khmelnytskyi is the basis of the regional economy. The region is among the leaders in the production of grain, sugar beet, potatoes, vegetables and dairy products. The fertile soils of the Podilsk Highlands provide consistently high yields. Grain transport is the most popular type of vehicle during the harvest season — grain is delivered to numerous elevators and processing enterprises in the region.
The sugar industry of Khmelnytskyi region has deep traditions - there are several sugar factories processing local sugar beet. Seasonal transportation of beets from fields to factories and finished sugar to warehouses creates a powerful cargo flow in the autumn period. Dump trucks, flatbed cars and tilt trucks are involved in this process.
The food industry of the region also includes dairy plants, meat processing plants, bakeries and confectionery factories. Food products are sent both to neighboring regions and to large cities — Kyiv, Lviv, and Odesa. Refrigerated and isothermal transport is necessary for transporting perishable products.
The light industry of Khmelnytskyi is represented by textile enterprises and shoe factories, some of which are commissioned by European brands. Finished products are sent both to the domestic market and for export to EU countries through western border crossings.
The construction industry of the region is actively developing, providing demand for the transportation of cement, concrete, bricks, metal structures and finishing materials.Manufacturers of building materials in Khmelnytskyi — cement plants and plants of reinforced concrete products — send their products to construction companies throughout western Ukraine.
The transport infrastructure of the Khmelnytskyi region includes the M-06 highway (Kyiv — Lviv — Chop), which passes directly through the region, as well as the M-12 (Stryy — Vinnytsia) and regional roads. This makes Khmelnytskyi a transit point for goods between Kyiv and the western border. Khmelnytskyi railway hub provides freight connections with all key cities of Ukraine.
Proximity to the border with Moldova (through the Vinnytsia region) and access to cross-border routes through the Lviv region and Transcarpathia open opportunities for international transportation. Cargo from Khmelnytskyi can be delivered to Poland, Romania and Moldova in one or two days.
The CarGoPro platform is an effective solution for participants in the logistics market of Khmelnytskyi. Agricultural enterprises, food producers and construction companies publish transport requests, and carriers receive notifications of new shipments in real time. The automatic selection system, tenders and verification of counterparties through the EDR make the search for transport convenient and safe.
